It is the use of low power - Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation - low power for healing purposes. Laser was first used in the war industry, then in technology, and recently in various branches of medicine (surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology ...).
In recent years, the use of non-destructive low-power laser has begun, which is used in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and is based on its biological effect on tissue, ie the stimulation of certain tissue functions. The laser is dosed according to the frequency, duration of the procedure, applied power and wavelength.
Therapeutic effects are:
A) pain reduction - strong analgesic effect
B) reduction of the inflammatory process
C) reduction of swelling
D) accelerating the healing of wounds caused by various causes
E) reducing the size of the scar and increasing its elasticity
F) improving circulation
G) by applying, painlessly, to acupuncture points (suitable for use in children and people with fear of needles), it exhibits effects related to needle acupuncture.
Application technique: local application and laser acupuncture, requires the use of protective glasses for the patient and therapist (newer generation lasers have a built-in filter, so protective glasses are not required).
The duration of one treatment is usually 5 - 10 minutes, in 10 to 20 sessions.
