Ultrasound therapy

It involves the use of sound for therapeutic purposes. Infrared and ultra sound effects are used in physical therapy, primarily their mechanical effect. Ultra sound acts as a high-frequency tissue micromassage. The ultrasound used in physical medicine has a frequency of 870 KHz and a wavelength of 0.4 mm.

Therapeutic effects, resulting from the primary action of ultrasound - mechanical, thermal, physicochemical and neuroreflex - are:
A) reduction of the inflammatory process and pain
B) improving microcirculation, nutrition and tissue recovery of the treated area of the body
C) reduction of spasm ("spasm") of muscles and regulation of the tone of the sympathetic nervous system
D) reducing swelling and improving the removal of harmful metabolic products
E) reducing the scar and increasing its elasticity
F) by injecting the drug through ultrasound, the effect of the drug and the ultrasound itself is combined.

Application technique: stable, labile, subaquatic (underwater), continuous, impulse; for application, a contact medium is required - most often paraffin oil, intensity up to 3 watts / cm square.

The duration of the procedure is usually 5 to 15 minutes. The treatment series consists of 10 individual sessions for acute conditions, and up to 15 sessions for chronic conditions.
